# Register an SMS Sender ID

> Learn when an SMS Sender ID needs to be registered and how Kero helps you through the registration process.

Some countries and mobile networks require an **SMS Sender ID to be registered and approved** before it can be used to send messages.

Registration helps mobile networks verify that the organisation using a Sender ID is authorised to represent the business or brand displayed to recipients.

## Before you register

First, check whether Sender ID registration is required in the country you want to send messages to.

Requirements vary considerably between countries and may also differ between mobile networks.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You may need to register the same Sender ID separately for different countries or networks.

## What information might be required?

The exact requirements depend on the destination, but you may be asked to provide information such as:

* your requested Sender ID
* legal business name
* company registration information
* business address
* company website
* messaging use case
* examples of the messages you intend to send
* proof that your organisation is authorised to use the requested brand name

Some registrations may also require supporting documentation or a **Letter of Authorisation (LOA)**.

## Choosing your Sender ID

Your requested Sender ID should clearly represent your business or brand.

For example:

**Business:** Celerity Messaging UK Ltd\
**Sender ID:** KERO

You should only request a brand name that your organisation is authorised to use.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Sender IDs that impersonate another business or brand, contain unsupported characters, or do not meet the destination country's requirements may be rejected.

## How registration works with Kero

Where registration is required, Kero will help coordinate the process.

The typical process is:

1. You provide your requested Sender ID and destination country.
2. Kero identifies the applicable registration requirements.
3. You provide any required business information or supporting documentation.
4. Kero submits the registration to the relevant messaging partner or mobile network.
5. The registration is reviewed.
6. Kero lets you know when the Sender ID has been approved or if additional information is required.

Approval times vary depending on the country and mobile network.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The final approval of a Sender ID is determined by the relevant mobile networks or regulatory process. Kero will help you prepare and submit the information required.

## Once your Sender ID is approved

Once registration has been completed, your approved Sender ID can be configured for messaging to the applicable destination.

Make sure you continue to use the Sender ID in accordance with the use case and requirements under which it was approved.

## Ready to register a Sender ID?

You can start a Sender ID registration request from within Kero.

Before starting, we recommend checking the requirements for your destination so you know what information may be needed.
