# Manage your account settings

> Update your Kero profile, change your password and protect your account with multi-factor authentication.

Your Kero account settings allow you to manage your personal information, update your password and configure additional account security.

We recommend that **every Kero user enables multi-factor authentication (MFA)** to help protect their account.

## Access your account settings

1. Sign in to [Kero](https://app.kero.chat).
2. Select **Settings** from the left navigation menu.
3. Choose **My Profile** or **Security**, depending on what you want to manage.

## Update your profile

Under **Settings → My Profile**, you can view your account information and manage your personal details.

| Field | Description |
| - | - |
| **Username** | Your registered Kero login email address. |
| **Account Name** | The name of your currently selected Kero account. |
| **First Name** | Your first name. |
| **Last Name** | Your surname. |
| **Mobile Number** | Your contact mobile number, including the country code. |

To update your profile:

1. Open **Settings → My Profile**.
2. Update the available personal information fields.
3. Select **Save** to save your changes.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Your Username identifies your Kero login, while Account Name identifies the Kero account you're currently accessing.

## Manage your account security

Open **Settings → Security** to manage your password and multi-factor authentication.

### Change your password

**1. Open Security**

Navigate to **Settings → Security**.

**2. Enter your passwords**

Under **Update Password**, enter your **Old Password** and **New Password**.

**3. Save your changes**

Select **Save** to update your password.

## Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication adds an extra security step when signing in to Kero.

In addition to your password, you'll be asked to provide a temporary one-time passcode.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **We strongly recommend enabling MFA for every Kero user.**
>
> MFA helps protect your account even if your password becomes compromised.

### Choose your MFA method

Kero provides two options:

| Method | How it works |
| - | - |
| **Authenticator App** | Use an authenticator application to generate a temporary one-time passcode when signing in. |
| **Email** | Receive a temporary one-time passcode at your registered Kero login email address. |

**Recommended: Authenticator App**

We recommend using an authenticator application where possible because it provides an additional security factor that does not depend on access to your email account.

Email MFA is also available if you prefer to receive your passcodes by email.

### Configure MFA

**1. Open Security**

Navigate to **Settings → Security**.

**2. Select your MFA method**

Under **Two-factor Authentication**, choose **Authenticator App** or **Email**.

**3. Follow the setup instructions**

Enable your preferred method and complete any verification steps presented by Kero.

**4. Confirm your setup**

Make sure your selected MFA method is enabled before leaving the page.

> [!TIP]
>
> Keep your authenticator application and registered email account secure and accessible. You'll need your selected method when Kero requests a sign-in verification code.

## Manage your billing account

The Kero account owner can access **Settings → Billing Account** to manage business billing information.

A team member may also access this section if the account owner has requested administrator permissions and a Kero specialist has granted the required access.

Billing permissions cannot currently be assigned directly within Kero.

For detailed instructions, see [Manage your billing account](https://kero.chat/help/manage-your-billing-account.md).

## What happens next?

Once your profile and security settings are configured, you can continue using Kero with greater confidence.

If you work with colleagues, explore the Account Management guides to learn how to invite team members and manage account access.
