# Getting started with RCS

> Follow the journey from preparing your business and creating your RCS Agent to testing, verification and launch.

Getting your business live on RCS involves preparing your business information, creating an RCS Agent, testing your messaging experience and completing the required verification and approval process.

Kero guides you through each stage so you know what to do next and when your Agent is ready for live messaging.

## Your journey to RCS

**1. Prepare**

Gather your business information, brand assets and compliance details.

**2. Create**

Create your RCS Agent in Kero and configure the business identity, messaging purpose and experience your customers will see.

You can save your Agent as a draft before submitting it to Kero for review.

**3. Test**

Once your Agent has been created and reaches **Ready for Verification**, add test devices and check its branding, message content and interactive features on an RCS-capable device.

**4. Verify**

Complete any outstanding testing and verification requirements.

A Kero Customer Success Specialist submits your Agent for external verification through the relevant RCS provider.

**Your responsibility:** Monitor your email and respond to verification requests from Google Support and the relevant mobile network operators. These requests confirm that your business authorised Kero to create an RCS Agent on its behalf.

**5. Launch**

Once the required approvals have been obtained, Kero coordinates the launch of your Agent in the applicable market and supported mobile networks.

**6. Message**

Once your Agent has reached **Launched**, you can begin sending live RCS messages through Kero or integrate using the Kero Messaging API.

> [!NOTE]
>
> These six steps describe your overall onboarding journey. Your Agent's status in Kero shows its current progress through review, verification and launch.

## Before you start

Having the right information ready will make creating and verifying your RCS Agent easier.

You'll need:

* **Business details** — your legal business name, brand name and a short description
* **Brand assets** — your logo and other required brand imagery
* **Website** — your official business website
* **Privacy Policy and Terms** — publicly accessible links for your business
* **RCS use case** — how you intend to use RCS, such as transactional, authentication, promotional or conversational messaging
* **Consent process** — how customers provide consent to receive your messages
* **Brand approver** — a business contact authorised to confirm your brand and respond to verification requests
* **Target market** — the country or markets where you intend to use RCS

> [!TIP]
>
> Let your brand approver know that Google Support and mobile network operators may contact them by email during verification. Responding promptly helps avoid unnecessary delays.

## Understand your RCS Agent status

After creating your RCS Agent, you can track its progress in Kero under **RCS Agents**.

Your Agent progresses through five statuses:

| Status | What it means | What happens next |
| - | - | - |
| **Draft** | Your Agent details have been saved but not submitted to Kero. | Complete your details and submit your Agent for review. |
| **In Review** | Kero is reviewing your submission and preparing your RCS Agent. | Kero reviews your information and creates your Agent. |
| **Ready for Verification** | Your Agent has been created and is ready for final testing and verification preparation. | Complete testing and provide any outstanding information. Kero coordinates the external submission. |
| **Verifying** | Your Agent has been submitted for external verification and approval. | Respond to verification emails from Google Support and mobile network operators. Kero coordinates the process. |
| **Launched** | Your Agent has been approved and launched. | You can begin sending live RCS messages using your Agent in supported markets and networks. |

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Action required during verification:** If Google Support or a mobile network operator emails your business to confirm that you authorised Kero to create your RCS Agent, you must respond.
>
> Delays in responding may delay approval and launch. If you're unsure whether an email is legitimate, contact Kero Support before responding.

> [!NOTE]
>
> An RCS Agent must complete the required verification and approval process before it can be used for live messaging.
>
> You can test your Agent on registered test devices before launch, but this does not mean it has been approved for live customer messaging.

## How long does it take?

Verification and launch times vary depending on your market, use case and mobile network requirements.

Some Agents may be approved relatively quickly, while others require additional information or review.

Kero coordinates the verification process and will keep you informed of any actions required from your business.

If your Agent remains in **Verifying**, first check whether your business has received and responded to the required verification emails.

For more information, see [RCS Agent verification and launch](https://kero.chat/help/rcs-agent-verification-and-launch).

## Ready to get started?

Start by adding your business details and branding in Kero. You'll then be able to create your RCS Agent and begin the review and verification process.
