# Roles and permissions

> Understand how team access and administrator permissions are currently managed in Kero.

Kero allows you to invite colleagues to your account so your team can work together using their own login credentials.

Access to certain account management functions is restricted to protect your business information and billing details.

## How team access works

When you invite someone to your Kero account, they become a team member once they have completed the invitation process.

Each team member:

* Uses their own Kero login and password.
* Can access the Kero account they have been invited to.
* Can switch between accounts if they belong to more than one Kero account.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Kero does not currently offer self-service roles and permissions management. Account owners cannot assign or change permission levels directly in the application.

## Account owners and administrators

The account owner is responsible for managing access to sensitive account functions.

Some functions, including billing management, are restricted to the account owner or team members who have been granted administrator access.

| Access type | Description |
| - | - |
| **Account owner** | The primary account holder with access to account management and billing functions. |
| **Team member** | A person invited to collaborate within a Kero account using their own login. |
| **Administrator access** | Additional access granted to a team member by a Kero specialist following a request from the account owner. |

Administrator permissions are not currently configurable through the Kero interface.

## Request administrator access

If a team member needs additional administrator permissions:

1. The **account owner** contacts Kero Support.
2. The account owner identifies the team member who requires additional access.
3. A Kero specialist reviews the request and configures the necessary access in the backend.
4. The team member can then use the functions made available to them.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Administrator access cannot be granted by another team member through the Kero application. Requests must come from the account owner.

## Billing permissions

Billing information is available only to the account owner or a team member who has been granted administrator access.

If you cannot see **Billing Account** under **Settings**, you may not have the required access.

Ask your account owner to contact Kero Support if you need billing permissions.

For more information, see [Manage your billing account](https://kero.chat/help/product/account-management/manage-your-billing-account).

## Keep your account secure

We recommend that every Kero user:

* Uses their own login credentials rather than sharing an account.
* Enables **multi-factor authentication (MFA)** under **Settings → Security**.
* Keeps their password and verification codes private.
* Requests removal of team members who no longer require access.

To add or remove colleagues, see [Invite team members](https://kero.chat/help/product/account-management/invite-team-members).

## Need additional access?

If you require administrator permissions or cannot access a function needed for your work, contact your account owner.

The account owner can then request assistance from Kero Support.
