# Set up your billing account

> Register your business billing details and create your linked Stripe customer account before configuring messaging channels.

Before setting up your first messaging channel, you need to create a billing account in Kero.

Kero uses Stripe to manage customer billing. Completing this step registers your business billing details and establishes a linked Stripe customer account.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You do not need to add a payment method to complete your initial Kero billing registration.

## Who can set up billing?

The **Kero account owner** is responsible for setting up billing. A team member may also manage billing if the account owner has requested administrative access and a Kero specialist has granted the required permissions.

The account owner is responsible for completing this step during onboarding.

If you're a team member and cannot see **Billing Account** under Settings, ask your account owner to complete the setup.

## Before you begin

Have the following business information ready:

* Your registered business or organisation name.
* Your business address, including city, postal code and country.
* Your tax registration information, if applicable.

## Create your billing account

**1. Open Billing Account**

Sign in to [Kero](https://app.kero.chat).

From the left navigation menu, select **Settings → Billing Account**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Billing Account is only available to the account owner.

**2. Enter your business details**

Complete the billing registration form.

| Field | What to enter |
| - | - |
| Business Name\* | Your registered business or organisation name. |
| Address Line 1\* | Your business street address. |
| Address Line 2 | Additional address details, if applicable. |
| City\* | The city where your business is located. |
| State/Province | Your state, region or province, where applicable. |
| Postal/ZIP Code\* | Your business postal or ZIP code. |
| Country\* | Select your business country. |

Fields marked with an asterisk (\*) are required.

**3. Add tax information if applicable**

After selecting your country, you can use **Include Tax Information** to provide applicable tax registration details.

The available tax information options depend on your selected country.

**4. Save your billing account**

Review your details and click **Save**.

Kero uses the submitted billing information to establish your linked Stripe customer account.

You do not need to enter a payment card to complete this step.

## How do I know billing is set up?

Once your billing account has been created, you can return to **Settings → Billing Account** to view your saved billing details.

You should also see a **Go to billing portal** link, which provides access to your linked Stripe billing portal.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The billing portal is separate from the initial billing registration process. A payment method is not required simply to create your billing account.

## What happens next?

Once billing registration is complete, you can begin configuring your first messaging channel.
